Nature Boyd

While raking up the trillions of gumballs from our sweetgum tree I discovered a frog (ok so I thought it was dead but waited until Uncle Pete and Gramps came over to ask them to dispose of it. Oops it was actually alive-Uncle Pete spared its life.) Boyd was intrigued. He wanted to touch it, luckily it jumped away before he could contract any warts. It actually climbed all the way up the tree.

Boyd got to work mowing today and chased after uncle Pete when Uncle Pete stole his mower.

After a hard days work, Boyd snuggled with Elmo and took him for a ride on the Firetruck. Actually, Boyd put up a fight with a temper tantrum when it came time to come inside. He was so flushed I thought he had gotten a sunburn; he's a nature boy. Elmo made him quickly forget about leaving the outside for a while.

Spring has sprung

Kicking the ball over and over.

Icecream for pretend breakfast.

Two cute toddlers. Playdate with Sam and hugs. Sam also taught Boyd how to say "No."

Other new words so far this week include school bus and bye.

Ang's Visit

Adam's cousin Angela came to visit us over her Spring Break. We enjoyed some Spring like weather and all Boyd's usually fun and games. Boyd has been adding to his list of signs and words. Right now we are working on signing please and thank you, he's catching on quickly. Spotting airplanes, trucks, birds (especially Robins), people, and pushing strollers, grocery carts, etc. continue to be favored activities. We also think Boyd might have a future as a custodian since he loves pushing the swiffer around the house- what a helper.

Wild game of jumping, tackling, and tickling with Ang.

Stinky feet game.

At the zoo with Ang, Gramps and Mommy. Boyd's favorite animals were the giraffes and penguins.

I see you!

Compare this shot to one of Boyd's first blogs. Yep, he's huge.

Giddy Up or I'll pull your hair Ang.

The Healing Powers of Boyd

Boyd enjoying a nice spring day.

Boyd where is your head?

Playing in Lentils.

Helping Lesley work-aka sending e-mails and doing things to her computer that no one else can do or undo.

Boyd and Mommy so happy together, just not so happy he is being contained.

Tree face's broken mouth. What a find for Boyd.

Adventures in the yard.

Concentration.

Rocking with Grandma.

Where's your belly?

Boyd putting balls away at Little Gym. Also the reason we keep our trash can up high at home. Boyd now identifies these trash cans with balls and tries to get them out at different times throughout class.

Balance beam. Today Boyd tried to walk the beam independently. There was an unforeseen dismount-oops.

Firetruck. Boyd knows the song.

How big is Boyd Burla? ...So big!

Hmm, what did I drop down there?

In the kitchen with Grandma.

A gift from Gramps- M&M's. Boyd loves chocolate almost as much as his mom.

Taking a rest with Grandma while watching UP.

Cookie Monster.

Boyd's first flu. Good thing Aunt Emily was such a good mom stand in. Adam took this picture to document. Interestingly enough this flu went through 8 family members but never Aunt Emily.

Boyd and I have been spending lots of quality time together to make up for me being in NY for surgery. He doesn't quite understand why I am moving so slow but he has turned into my personal trainer helping me to get back on the move. Boyd's receptive language is exploding. He signs for things he wants and shakes his head no if we get it wrong. He also follows one step directions. We think he is smart. The other day while outside I asked him to stop. He did and then pointed to the stop sign at the end of the street. Two weeks ago at Target we were in the make up isle when Boyd started frantically signing cereal. I was confused until I spotted the displaced box of cheerios on the ground. Boyd's favorite things these days includes sweeping (today at the mall he tried to relieve the custodian), pushing his stroller around, finding rocks, playing ball, playing his tree face game with mommy outside, wrestling on the bed, playing his monkey game in his crib, trying to steal the eggs out of the neighbors flower beds, books, snuggling, pretending to talk on the phone, watching the birds, squirrels, airplanes, trucks and cars, taking field trips to the pet store, going to various parks, and eating cereal, crackers, and applesauce. Yeah, he's pretty much the greatest thing since sliced bread.
