Fall Fun

Fall fun! This is not a Halloween costume but rather a run and launch oneself into the couch outfit. Look at that pose. This is a blackmail photo when he is grown up.

Celebrating Amanda's 23rd Birthday. Boyd picked out the cake and was so excited that it had spider rings because, "Now we can get married!!!" Yes, Boyd and Amanda celebrated a short marriage ceremony minutes after singing happy birthday.

Fun at the Cozy Coup park. This park always has toys laying around.

Too cool for mom look.

Not sure how he still fits in this swing. At least he was pumping.

A new trick.

Student Driver.

Fall colors. Boyd kept saying the trees leaves were gorgeous. I agree.

Throwing them up in the air.

Jumping in a fake pile.

Peak.

The W and OD trail. D.C. commuters paradise.

Getting brave.

Park post nap.

Boyd questions and thoughts for the day...
Why do you close your eyes when you sneeze?
I am going to be two 2 jobs when I grow up. A singer and work in the hospital.
Mommy how tall are you going to be?

Oh Boyd. First off, Boyd received a new costume.  He now sports a police officer outfit from around 7am to 8 o'clock pm (with a small struggle).  People in the community are now on their best behavior when we are around.  He also asked me, "What's an igloo?" After I explained he said, "I want to live in an igloo so my house will never catch fire." I have a feeling he knew what an igloo was prior to asking. I had just set the smoke alarm off with my terrible cooking skills. This had led us to a serious discussion about what to do if Boyd ever heard this noise again, especially at night or if we weren't in the same room.  His thought process astounds me. Today at the store he cracked me up being Mr. independent. I was several feet away when I heard him approach a sales clerk and say, "Excuse me. Do you have a dressed room? I have to pee (pause) and poop." I realized he was hearing dressed instead of rest all the times I asked for directions to the restroom.  Lastly, Boyd has had baby on the brain recently.  He told me he was going to grow a brother or a sister in his belly by eating healthy.  Tonight he told me, lots of men have babies and he asked me if you could still run with a baby in your belly and that he would carry it to his school in one of those carrier things since babies are so little. Many of his peers have infant siblings and he adores some o our tiny neighbors.  Sorry Boyd, better get used to enjoying everyone else's babies for at least a few more years.

Why is my child always missing at least one item of clothing. At least it's not his pants for once.

Boyd's Fun Run and Blocktober Fest on our block

Last year Boyd participated in the Trails for Youth fun run. He still loves and remembers Wakefield Park because of it.  I thought we missed the event but was pleased to find it was this past weekend.  Complete with races, bounce houses, and more Boyd had fun once again. The start...

Had to give him someone to chase. He talks, watches others, cheers, and does other wild things as he runs. No photo but the last 50 meters he thought it was cool to run with his tongue hanging out.
Blocktober Fest. The firefighters came for a visit and even let the kids investigate the tools.

Enjoying all the neighbors backyards and trampolines.

Cox Farms 2012

Cox Farms is our current fall festival tradition. It is an amazing! Boyd enjoyed it so much and we didn't have to cut our time short this year (last year Adam ended up in the hospital on the drive home due to a reaction to almonds). From "kid" friendly hay maze hikes, potato sack slides, animals, hayrides, and hay forts, we had a blast. Boyd wore his costume and was a hit just like last year.  2012 vs. 2011

Sneaking under the hay climbing fort. No grown ups allowed (they would not fit).

The big kid rope swing.

Plop!

I think he was a little freaked out. It was fast.

Hang on to your hats folks.

Firefighter to the rescue.

Out of the maze.

Kettle corn while we waited for the hayride.

Amanda joined in the fun and festivities.

This look reminded me of photos from years past.

Amazed at the sights.

Offering himself to the trolls in order to cross their bridge.

Mom and Boyd vs. Amanda on the giant slide.

We got a late start, made a surge, but came up a little short in the end. Next time I need to teach Boyd to not put his feet out to brake along the sides. But Amanda was a true racer. Look at her form.

Love this one.
