Bolz Visit and the POWER OUTAGE

We have had an absolutely amazing summer thus far.  It all started with a visit from the cousins, Tyler, Andrew and Aunt Jenny at the end of June. Since their arrival this summer has been nothing but historic and memorable.  The night they arrived we had an epic east coast storm that Boyd is still obsessed with.  I guess three days with no power and 100 degree heat will do that to you.  If a light bulb is out or light is off there might be a power outage and if there is a candle around, good thing in the event of a power outage. In his defence it was extreme, he and I went out the morning after since everyone else was asleep and the damage was eye opening. We considered ourselves lucky and braved the storm and its after effects together.  Of course this being the Bolz's first trip to D.C. we had much to share.  We toured the town and visited so much in one week it was amazing.  My personal favorites, although not pictured were the Lincoln Memorial, FDR's memorial, and the Library of Congress.  We also had some great nights just hanging out together, playing baseball, playing telephone games and cars and games in the dark.  We were all relieved when the power came back on but the adventures of heat were not over.  The boys insisted that we watch the 4th of July fireworks over the National Mall so all aboard the Metro. On the way back we squished ourselves into a car that had no power, hence no AC with far to many people and then it pretty much stalled out in between stops.  It literally might have been the hottest I have ever been in all my life. Everyone was happy to get out and have Adam pick us up a stop early.  Adam was basically a hero.  If Tyler and Andrew didn't think their Aunt was crazy before they probably do now but they at least found comfort in the fact that I had ridden the New York subway.  I didn't have my camera out enough this trip but enjoy a few pictures.
The night of the outage, it was pitch black until the flash of the camera.
Found food way down in D.C. along with many other people looking for food. As we waited we toured a fire house and fire poles do exist.
Trees and lines down everywhere- explains the outages.
 Hiking Roosevelt Island.
Run!!!!
 Video games with the cousins.
Mandatory snuggle shot.
Andrew the teacher.
 Love these quotes.
